We’re a team of experienced builders, project leads, and craftsmen who take a hands-on, highly organized approach to every job. Founded by Gil Mendes, Woodworks brings together a skilled core crew and trusted partners to deliver renovations and custom homes with precision and care.

We work closely with architects and designers, make informed decisions about materials and details, and protect long-term value at every stage. Clear communication, realistic scheduling, and disciplined budgeting allow us to guide even the most complex projects smoothly from start to finish.

Our Founder

Gil Mendes founded Woodworks Custom Homes in 2011 after nearly a decade working as a licensed contractor in Boston. He discovered his passion for construction early on and built his career transforming older homes into more functional, better-performing spaces.

An out-of-the-box thinker with deep hands-on experience, Gil brings a thoughtful, practical approach to residential remodels, commercial renovations, and custom home builds. Known for his attentiveness and accessibility, he keeps projects organized, budgets transparent, and the entire experience as seamless as possible.

Jonatas, the project manager, is an absolute dream to work with: professional, communicative, present, detail-oriented, and committed to seeing things through even when the inevitable hiccups arise, such as vendor delays that are outside Woodworks' or our control. Woodworks was transparent and very clear about the scope of work and pricing (very reasonable), and went above and beyond, doing things for us that weren't included in the contract (such as installing recessed lighting as a courtesy, where we hadn't thought about doing it) and the contractors were all respectful of our space. We are so happy to have found the people we will go to for our future projects from here on out! Thank you, Woodworks, for helping us get our dream home!
